Mark Cavendish has won the first stage of the 2016 Tour de France.
Manx sprinter Cavendish, 31, now has 27 stage wins – just Bernard Hinault (28) and Eddy Merckx (34) have more – meaning he will wear the iconic yellow jersey for the first time in his career.
Chris Froome, 31, is bidding to become the first man in 20 years to win consecutive Tours.
The Team Sky rider, who also won in 2013 and 2015, is the race favourite.
