Wing Jack Nowell has the chance to earn a place in the England team to face Ireland on March 1 after being released to play for Exeter at Harlequins.

The 21-year-old underwent knee surgery last summer, which meant he missed

England’s summer tour of New Zealand.

“It’ll be good for Jack to get some more game time,” said England head coach Stuart Lancaster.

“We are looking forward to seeing how he and the other guys play for their clubs this weekend ahead of selection.”

Nowell was recalled by

Lancaster for the autumn international

series despite having only started just three games in six months.

After winning their opening Six Nations matches against Wales and Italy, England lead the table on points difference from Ireland.
